In the future, only one rule will matter:

Don’t. Ever. Peek.

Seventeen-year-old Ari Alexander just broke that rule and saw the last person she expected hovering above her bed — arrogant Jackson Locke, the most popular boy in her school. She expects instant execution or some kind of freak alien punishment, but instead, Jackson issues a challenge: help him, or everyone on Earth will die.

Ari knows she should report him, but everything about Jackson makes her question what she’s been taught about his kind. And against her instincts, she’s falling for him. But Ari isn’t just any girl, and Jackson wants more than her attention. She’s a military legacy who’s been trained by her father and exposed to war strategies and societal information no one can know — especially an alien spy, like Jackson. Giving Jackson the information he needs will betray her father and her country, but keeping silent will start a war.

My Review~

What would you do if you had to share your world with an alien race? But not just share the world, had to share a piece of yourself in order to maintain peace between two races? That's exactly what Ari faces. She lives a life where each night an alien comes into her room where he or she will share a part of her that will help sustain their life. This is the deal that has been struck. Many years ago to avoid the destruction of earth. And Ari paid it, along with every other human. But Ari got curious. And you know what they say about curiosity killing the cat don't you? Well Ari's curiosity didn't exactly kill her, but it definitely come's close.

Trained to fight from a young age, Ari is the next in line for commander and has spent everyday training for it. It is what her father wanted. And she was good at it. She was the perfect soldier, at the top of her game and ready for anything.

But in one night, everything about the life Ari knew changes. In one night she begins to question everything that she was ever taught to believe. And in one night she is forced to make a decision that will change everything. Team up with a member of the alien race or see her world destroyed. Not a hard decision for Ari. Who really wants to see peace. But as she soon discovers nothing is as it seems. At the edge of war, emotions run high and lines blur. Choices are made and the good guy doesn't always look like the good guy anymore.

Now Ari has to fight for more than top spot in school. She has to fight for the survival of those she loves. For her decision could mean the difference between life and death for two races.

I love fantasy, urban fantasy, and sci-fi stories. I love it when a book can successfully take me from my couch and transport me to another world. That's what Melissa West did with Gravity. I was in this story every step of the way. I was right there with Ari--the incredibly fierce, strong, smart, and loyal, MC--as she unraveled the truth of the world around her. I experienced every struggle, every battle, every hope as if it were my own. I bought into this story 100%.

But it wasn't just Ari that I bought into. Every character in this story brought the story to another level. From Ari's strict and scary father, to her fun loving best friends. No character was pointless, and no character was left wanting. Melissa West put just as much into her side characters as she did into her main characters Ari and Jackson. That is just one of the many things that made this story what it was. Of course it didn't hurt that her characters were all incredible bad-a**es.

Everything about Gravity was dare I say, out of this world? I loved it. Every. Minute. Of. It. From the very second you start this book Melissa West has you on the edge of your seat and that's where you'll stay until you close the book. It is one great thing after another. Twist after incredible twist. I definitely didn't see everything coming in this one.

The characters... amazing. The story... amazing. The love story laced in the action... amazing. I really need to find another word for this story. Let's go with refreshing. Gravity was absolutely refreshing. Everything about it was new and is something that everyone definitely needs to experience.

Gravity is one non-stop action packed thrill ride that is smartly arranged with, suspense, love, humor, and politics. Everything about it was fabulous. Melissa West definitely created a beautifully captivating story with this one. And I for one am thankful for the journey.

If there is anything that I regretted about this book it was that I didn't agree to review all the books in the series :( That is how good this book was.
